I think you guys have to keep looking. I took my wife to aquatic-reflections yesterday. Not only did we get the giant tonga mushrooms I took her to look at, but a pink acro and orange ricordia rock. Spent twice what I was planning on.
Now if I could only find a big piece of Tortusa(she...
Also which ballast you use can make a difference. I run 400x Iwaskis and they appear to me to be much yellower on blueline eballasts than the PFO mv ballasts. You might try switching ballasts?

I have had most of the various types of skimmers over the years and settled on a Euroreef F3. The various downdraft and beckett skimmer skimmers skim well, but they make a fair amount of noise. If quiet is important then that would be my choice.
The ultimate(to me) in quiet to me is Euroreef...
According to te original post you had an ammonia level of 0.02. I normally tell people not to put anything in a tank as long as they see measurable ammonia. Not sure what, but something happened in the tank and now there is a mini-cycle going on. In a 125 with a normal amount of live rock I...
On the Aerofloater 830 I have a waste collector is a great option. Especially since it sat outside of the sump and has a ton of air moving through it. However the Euroreef F-3 I have sits in the sump and because of the design uses a lot less air. So the odor propblem isn't as big a factor. I...
MegaDeTH,
He had a small receiver which he can tune to different frequencies. He wandered around the neighborhood until he ended up in from of my house. Once he told me the problem and when it occured it was obvious what it was. He is really into this ham radio stuff and had some gizmo he...
I currently have 2 of the 400 wat bluelines. I have had these ~18 months and would not buy them again. I have had problems with a neighbor due to all of the rf they put out. Maybe they are better now, I do not know.
I have a neptune aquacontroller and would like to connect a Life reef float switch to it. The manual shows the pin out for the 8 pim connector. I got one of the connectors, but I think I need to apply power to the switch.
If you have done one of these I would appreciate it if you could...
LilBugger225, I hope this idea helps.
In my last post I meant to say that they work as well as the Kent scrapers in the corners, which isn't very good in my opinion. Corners are something I have always had problems with.
Derek
I don't think these work as well as the Kent scrapers.
Here are 2 pictures. I use a tie wrap to make sure the [plastice blade stays on.
I hope the pictures come through:
What I did was buy some 3/4 pvc couplings, both the straight and 45 degree ones. I then cut a slot in one end that I can slide the small Kent algae scrappers in. I left enough so that the part where you change the blade is exposed. Then I drilled 2 holes through both the coupling and the...
I have an 830 on a 175 using a GRI 520. Skimmer works OK. Don't think much of the quality of the construction however. It is good that they redesigned the injector to make it easier to clean. I clean mine every 2 weeks or so. Small pieces of coralline, limpets or what ever make it through...
I came home from class one night about 11. Open the front door and the first thing I hear is the sound of aquarium pumps that are running dry. At that moment I knew I had a problem. A coupling had split on the closed loop on the 175 in the bedroom. The tank was <1/2 full and the sump was...
I tried an AmpMaster 3000 on an Aerofloater 830. Not sure how close it is to what you are using. I thought that with a Beckett it might work. Wrong, it didn't do a very good job. I went back to the GRI520 that is much, much better. The 3000 is sitting in the garage. I think restricting the...
Hi, I don't mean to be argumentative, but you might be surprised by how deep a 24" tank once you put it on a stand and add a canopy. In my case I am 6' 1" and my tank is on a 30" stand and has a 10" canopy. I need to stand on something in order to touch the bottom of the tank. Even then there...
