Hi all,
I have a 92 gallon Oceanic bowfront tank. The Cover for the top has about 6 1/2 inches of space between the glass lid and the inside ceiling of the hood. There is 4 feet of length available inside the hood and 1 foot of depth. Is it possible to put a MH fixture in this space? If so...
The threads were out during the evening when the first half of the lights were off for the night. No, I don't have a picture of it yet. My digital camera doesn't have a macro function and is too low of a resolution to enlarge the picture very much. I'll give it a try later today to see if I...
I purchased my first acropora about 5 days ago. It did nothing until tonight. All of a sudden, there are fine white threads about half an inch long coming out of the polyps. Is this a good sign or is it a sign of emminent doom?
The acro is a fairly dark green. I didn't want to risk anything...
That's interesting, I didn't know that it got its nutrients through roots. That must be why "blasting" the area was recommended by someone.
I do need to start a refugium. I have tried to raise some macro algae in my display tank, but the two tangs that I have wipe it out within about two...
Short of going in with tweezers, what eats Bryopsis algae? Does anyone have first hand experience with it?
I am using RO water and have low Phosphates (lowest reading on test kit) and low nitrates. I am using phosguard and carbon. The Bryopsis keeps coming back. :x
It is pretty small for a macro, I think. The "feathers" are about 1/8 of an inch wide and grow to about an inch to inch and a half long. They get to be about 3/4 of an inch before they start to feather out. Up until that point they look like beefy hair algae.
I have an outbreak of some kind of crazy hair algae. It is a dark blue/green color with kind of a feather look to it. The individual hairs look like feathers. It is quite strong and difficult to harvest from the tank. I had the guy from my LFS that services tanks come out and he had never...
I have blue yellow belly damsels that are great. They stay in their areas and don't really bother anybody. They look kind of like the yellowtails, but the yellow runs all the way up their bellies. All I can say is AVOID YELLOW DAMSELS. They attack any fish that gets close to them, especially...
Should I do some water changes to bring the calcium level down from 700 or let the organisms use it up? Incidentally, Dido is the name of my dog, I had no idea that there was a singer using the name.
Hi, I recently purchased a nice colony of Clavularia at my LFS. It was fully open in the store and was fully open for the first day in my tank. It has since mostly retracted, a few partially open. I have it placed fairly high in my tank, could it be getting too much light? It is just getting...
