The contracting and then expanding later is normal. If it doesn't expand to its original size, and appears to be shrinking over time or losing tentacles then I would be worried. My BTA just died today, so I am no expert.

The koralia nano is actually a lot more powerful than I thought it would be. I put it on the side of my 75G freshwater and I have some movement from plants on the far side (almost four feet away). Thanks for the advice all. The MP pumps look awesome, but I think too much $$$ for me right now...
