Thanks for the replies. I have many more options now that I can look at. As for turning the sump around, the third chamber is actually smaller than the first because all it has it the bulkhead that feeds the return pump.

I have a 70 gallon tank with a 15 gallon sump that I will be setting up soon. The sump has 3 chambers and I want to put a protein skimmer in the first, and a refugium in the second. The 3rd feeds the return pump. The problem is that the first chamber of the sump has a 10.5 x 6 inch footprint...
