  1. new coral?

OK, I couldn't help myself. I looked around for a while, but I can't find these. Hope the picture is OK.
  2. Some weird stuff in tank

 hey all! can anyone ID these? Sorry about the quality of the pictures, the camera focused on the tank, which was blurry :) The first one seems to be a hard coral, been o the rock for months, but we can see it now that the rocks are in a new configuration. it's a little smaller than...
  3. What kind of coral is this?

 Kudos to cindre2000, who was not only the first to answer, but also the first to answer correctly! I remember the LFS saying that it was a clove coral, and after some quick research, it seems to match up. Thanks very much for your info! duggy
  4. What kind of coral is this?

Just got this from the LFS. She said the name, but they talk so fast there :D When the "leaves" are not all spread out, it looks like a bubble anenome. Thanks, 8) duggy 8)
  5. Small, but it works

Thanks for the reply. I think the reason it looks so clean is we were using a low wattage light. We bought a 96 watt 50/50 last week, and everything went brown :? so now it is acting like a new tank. Unfortunate for the snails and crabs, and I hope the puffer and clown :P We will certainly look...
  6. Everything is BROWN!!

I forgot to mention. This is a year old (at least) tank, well-established. The only new thing is the light.
  7. Everything is BROWN!!

We just replaced our 24watt cold fluorescent with a 96 watt 50/50. Suddenly, the tank is overtaken with brown algae. It was on the glass (I cleaned it), it is on the rocks, the sand, and the live rock. It is also on the shells of the hermit crabs, and anywhere else that it can be. I have pics...
  8. Small, but it works

Okay. I've got a 35 gallon tank. I have about 25 lbs of live rock, mostly Fiji. I have a Ocellaris clownfish, a Valentini puffer, a number of hermit crabs, and a number of snails. I also seem to have a small spider crab that hitched along with some live rock, and a few bristleworms. I am using a...
  9. Aquarium lighting question

Your advice was noted, if not a little late :D I ALSO took the same excellent advice from my LFS, and got a Coralife Compact single strip 50/50. Same wattage, and I can still do corals later if I want. Thanks again! duggy
  10. Aquarium lighting question

Hey all! We have a 35 gal reef tank with a clownfish, some crabs, snails, and a tube anemone. We have a 24watt light, which really sucks. I can get a 96 watt light for cheap, but it's specs say it is for freshwater. Does it matter? Hopefully someone can answer quick, 'cause I'm gonna buy it...
