ok I have done some homework... I read up on your suggestions (thanks to cheifmcfuz post by steven pro on ich) I have learned a bit. hyposalinity is not a good option ( i would kill live rock and sand ), copper is out cause I do want to make this a reef. I'm left with a bunch of other options...

Same thing happen to me with a flame hawkfishh. He has been MIA for 3 days now and no sign. I moved all my live rock around and nothing. He must have been eaten up but there isn't even a trace of him.

Problem solved. Apparently He Took in a bit of air when he gulped down flakes (even tho I try to feed him pellets) he just loves to eat everything. So the trigger had gas. =)
