The ocean runner pumps even with the air passing through them, are fairly quiet. I would't hesitate if I was in your shoes to switch out to an ocean runner 2700 or 3700.

I convinced my SO, by simply saying, It'll all go in the main tank eventualy anyways, so its really just a 6 month QT tank ;)
