  1. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

dupaboy1992, felch, Would you mind to provide some practical circuitry to me so as to improve my existing LED board. Currently all LED board powered by a 15VDC ballast to 180 parallel in 5 series LED array, 3V per LED. I just want to improve the intensity & color temp. base on existing...
  2. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

I have try to provide the 5 LED series array with 16VDC without resistor, it also burn after 2week with 24hours ON. I don't know how to set the voltage & forward current that can keep my LED lamp work many many years!!
  3. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

Hi dupaboy1992, You are right! There are no current-limiting resistor on the four PCB. Each PCB consist of 45 parallel x 5 series LED that drive by a 15VDC power supply. Each LED consume 3VDC at a low forward current or you can say I am under-drive those LED. Total consumption of the 4 PCB is...
  4. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

Louey, would you mind to ask me how much a PAR meter does? I am searching a cheaper and easier way to measure the PAR & spectrum. Thanks

    Thanks JohnHenry, Hong Kong
  6. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

Concrete, 1.How much did all of that cost? US$ please Totally at around US$250 to US$300. 2.How much time did it take?? Not include buying materials, planning & build prototype for test before, it took me around 40 hours on contructing the 4 PCB. 3.What kind of freakkin phone is that...
  7. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

At this state, four PCB finished and placed over a acrylic sheet on the top of my RT.
  8. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

Finished of single PCB, each PCB consist of 100x50,000mcd white LED, 100x13,000mcd blue LED & 25xUV LED. That's all!
  9. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

No solder iron is require. Just wire up the LED by copper wire with wire wrapper as your designed white/blue combination.
  10. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

Planning how to drive the LED array, how many voltage & forward current. Prepare the tools & materials. Tools : Cutter, wire wrapper. Materials : 50,000mcd white LED, 13,000mcd blue LED & UV LED, pre-drilled PCB board, copper wire, power supply(not include inside the photo)
  11. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

OK! Let's check my prototype first. Yellow one and silver one is white and blue LED respectively. First of all, arranging different combination of white & blue LED before wiring it up.
  12. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

utahsaltreefer, Thank you for your support! Would you mind to share how do you drive the LED array? You are right, 900 LED is really and also expensive to me. It cost me at around US$200 only on LED itself, previous burned 40,000mcd LED not included. Experience capture from this burning...
  13. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

Oooooo...........So disappointed! :( 50,000mcd with 20 degrees beam angle white LED only have 4.773Lumen, 400 white LED X 4.773Lumen = 1909.2Lumen. That is far far away from a 150HQI. PAR also unknown, it is so expensive if buying a PAR meter for measure once. Spectrometer also...

sfsuphysics, Many thanks! I am interested in the intensity calculation, would you mind to teach me? Although, only four senior replying this thread, I found Reefs.org is a peaceful and nice place for discuss and share. I love this place!
  15. What do you think to my DIY lamp?

dupaboy1992, Oppsite to your meaning. I just want to ask everybody don't drive the LED as same as factory specification, pay safe at 80% to max 90% for protection.
