    Thanks Seamaiden & Randy :) I appreciate the info. I have Black Diamond Carbon to use in the media container so I should be all set. The sand bed is pretty much just for the blennies, star and crabs. Tony

    Thanks fishfanatic2 I was planning on a Pro model, sorry I didn't mention that. It's going to be a reef tank. That's the only way to go! I'll cut back on the critters. I thought that might be a high number. Got the numbers from my LFS. As you can see i'm going to need all the help I can get. :)

    Has anyone had experience with a Prizim protein skimmer? Can it be succesfully used on a 55 reef tank w/70lbs LR and 50lbs of LS. I only expect to have a scooter blennie, 1 horned blennie, 1 yellow tang and a clown. Janitors will be 50 red legged hermits, 24 zebra hermits, about a hundred...

    It is a 55 gal tank with 2' live sand bed and 30lbs of base rock and 40lbs of live rock. The tank is almost done cycling and I am going to have both soft and hard corals with about 20" of fish. I have heard that the filter media will be nothing but a nitrate trap and it would be better to remove...
  5. Filter cartridge removal ??

    I have a Magnum 350 canister w/dual bio wheels on my 55 reef tank. Should I remove the filter cartridge from it and just use the prefilter and carbon chamber in conjunction with the bio wheels? I have heard conflicting stories on this subject and need some good advice.
