Sorry I took so long to reply. I tested the water and the nitrates were pretty high at about 20 ppm. They werent anywere near that high when the problem started. All othe water parameters were negligeable. I did a 90 gallon water change to reduce the nitrates a couple days ago, but the...

That sounds like just the normal night time coloration. Mine has it every morning. It's just a large brown blotch over a white line in the middle of the fish. Does it go away after you turn the lights on for a while?

My tang always gets a slightly brown semi-circularspot over a white line at night. Could that be what you are seeing?

I have tons of those. I think they are sponges, but i could be wrong.

A pair of dwarf lionfish would be nice, and they are small enough that you could keep something else with them.

The odd thing is, This is a new tank. The only other living things I've seen in there are my fish, some copepods and a few amphipods. I have no idea where these worms came from I only have a couple of pounds of live rock in the tank(220), and all of the worms are near the top of the tank now...
