  1. hawaiian button polyps

Well it wasn't much of a contribution :) . From the picture they really don't stand apart from the rest of the zoos.
  2. hawaiian button polyps

Zoanthus sp. Hope that helps. Unless I'm missing something in the picture, they're quite common.
  3. Tank Bred True Percs.

Getting clowns to host depends on the fish. I had tank raised A. ocellaris that wouldn't go anywhere near S. haddoni and I had tank raised A. ocellaris that dove into S. gigantea (natural hosting anemone).
  4. Center brace on Oceanic 58gal?

Thanks Rob, you're correct. I just went and had a look at one in an LFS . I ordered it today.
  5. Center brace on Oceanic 58gal?

    Damn, thanks Mario.
  6. Center brace on Oceanic 58gal?

I'm looking at purchasing the Oceanic 58gal RR and am wondering if it has a centerbrace?
  7. Pics and a question

Hey thanks T.T., the problem with dinos is that they don't follow the rules, they're not exactly algae.

    8) If I do figure something out, I'll post the information. I really was amazed at how little information there is available for, what seemed to me, such a serious issue. I guess we're part of a lucky few that have had to deal with it. The key to getting rid of them seems to be altering...
  9. Pics and a question

Your situation is very similar to mine. I did battle for a while before giving up and turning off the lights. I still deal with a few patches and haven't pinpointed the source of excess nutrients.
  10. Pics and a question

Increase the flow to those areas you're seeing the cyanobacteria, it may help (still a normal part of the cycle). Mooner, how'd you finally beat your dinoflagellate problem? It's the worst problem I've encountered in reefkeeping. It almost had me beat. Did you find the source of the nutrient...
  11. Can in-line return pump be run without drilling tank?

I did that on my closed loop that's plumbed over the top, I only have to use it if I take the plumbing apart for some reason. Like I said though, make sure the pump is below the water level. It's not good for a pump to have to draw water up at the intake (I'm not sure if they even can).
  12. Can in-line return pump be run without drilling tank?

Use some flexible pvc or reinforced flex tubing with clamps between the pump and sump. That should appease your mind as far as vibrations. FWIW, I've seen plenty of bulkheads hard plumbed to the pumps without trouble. I use the softer hose and flex pvc to cut down on noise more than anything...
  13. Pics and a question

Nothing wrong with IO, I use it myself but then there's nothing wrong with Kent or a number of others either. Hell, when I started I used Coralife until the salt report came out and told of copious amounts of lithium :) . None of my corals or fish cared ;) . I just thought #10 was funny.
  14. Pics and a question

Just out of curiousity, did y'all catch that part where he said his tank's been up for a month and a half? As someone above mentioned, it's a normal part of the cycle. Use only IO salt 8O ?
  15. Pics and a question

How long has the tank been set up? What kind of herbivores do you have in there? I've had two tanks go through a cycle of algae that looks very similar to that.
