  1. splitting a leather coral

You can usually cut them however you want. Stick a plastic toothpick through the piece and use rubber bands on each end of the toothpick to secure it to a piece of rubble. It will usually adhere to the rubble in a week or so.
  2. Acrylic tanks

While the weight is a big advantage, I have always figured I would scratch it to the point that I would regret it. I have scratched my glass tanks, think how much worse it would be with acrylic. Some people say they are clearer than glass but I don't have a problem seeing through my glass...
  3. Custom Aquariums, Sumps & Refugiums

Check Glasscages. They have mixed reviews. Some concerning sloppy silicon work, some concerning interactions with customers. I think they are mainly interested in doing jobs with big volume like for LFSs. The one thing everybody agrees on is the price is right.
  4. Big Pump Recommendation please

I'm planning a new 600 gallon tank (96 x 48 x 18) with a 10" square overflow draining from all 4 sides into a 75 gallon drilled tank as a sump. Considering either Little Giant 5.5-MDQ-SC or Iwaki MD-100RLT for a return pump. Issues will be reliability, noise, and heat. I'd welcome...
  5. Salifert Calcium test question

That's what I've been using and my calcium never tests much higher that 350 - 360 even with calcium reactors on both tanks. The liquid drops always runs out before the dry or the liquid that goes in with a syringe and I was wondering if I was using enough dry material. I figured if I used more...
  6. Salifert Calcium test question

The instructions for the dry measure say to use one spoonfull. Is this a level, rounded, or heaping spoonfull? Thanx
  7. What will eat saltwater kudzu and nothing else?

I mean zenia. This stuff is worse than any aptaisia I ever had. I'm dumping a bowl full over the back fence every weekend.
  8. Acrylic for diy projects

What are you trying to build? I built an overflow box and a calcium reactor using 1/4" "Plexiglas" from Home Depot.
  9. Ideas to catch a mantis shrimp

If I could narrow down which rock he was in that rock would lay in the driveway for a week or so!
  10. Weight Of Tanks

How much does a waterbed weigh? People put them upstairs all the time.
  11. Ideas to catch a mantis shrimp

If you can catch him he's yours!
  12. Ideas to catch a mantis shrimp

About 8 months ago I became aware that I have a mantis (saw him for the first time). Thereafter all the snails and hermits were eaten. Three weeks ago I decided to tear down the tank (225 gal) and find him. I took all the rock out (300 pounds) and didn't see him. I then dunked the rock (a...
  13. My experience with Greg Hiller's frags

Ordered 9 frags from Greg last week and got them today. He returned my emails promptly and furnished a price list. The frags were very nice (a couple quite large for frags). All arrived in excellent condition via Airborne overnite. They were well packed in their individual bags floating...
  14. Florida LFS's?

MonkeyBoy; You wouldn't be going to the Daytona 500 would you? If so I envy you!
