  1. Motor torque/impeller RPM question...

Thank you, for good answering. It's very usefull to hear oppinions and knowledge from others. I have thought of something like this. The reliability of the seal must depend on the shaft material and the part of the seal tightning around the shaft. I have found some seals concisting of a spring...
  2. Motor torque/impeller RPM question...

Thanks for your repply. Actually i was thinking of building the motor into a water-tight container of some sort. I am also looking for a reliable seal for the motorshaft. The datasheet states thermal resistances from wiring to ambient. From this it should be possible to calculate the temperature...
  3. Motor torque/impeller RPM question...

Hi, I am building my own wavemaker. The basic concepts is much like in tunze's stream pumps. I have ordered a very small 50W brushless DC-motor from maxon. When the shaft is not loaded it will deliver 6800RPM and the maximum continious torque is 90M[mNm]. I haven't been able to find any website...
  4. Removing fine bubbles from returnwater!?!

Hi It has now been several months i've beeb strugling with small bubbles entering the tank. The bubbles are generated by the skimmer. The bubbles are less than 1mm in diameter making them very slow in reaching the surface in the sump. I have tried making a bubblebaffle, much like this...
  5. Pics of my setup

I have taken some pic's of my tanking, and written some english subtitles. What do you think :) http://www.jonsakvarie.kartellet.dk [/url]
  6. Small bubbles forming all over the tank

Thanks for your help, but unfortunatelly i have made an improper description. By "bubbles" i mean bubbles like those generated by a skimmer, and not the algae which looks like bubbles (Valonia!)
  7. Small bubbles forming all over the tank

For about three weeks i have been strugling with bubbles in the tank. There are usually more bubbles when the light has been on for some hours due to fotosynthesis. In the beginning i had a problem with dinoflagellates which covered most of the surface of my LR. I succeeded in starving them out...
  8. brown algae/cyano problem

The reason why my ph value are only 7,8-8,0 i think is that the kh-buffer are only 6. Tomorow i will go and get some "kalkwasser" which i hope will increase the ph. As far as i know the kh and calcium-content usually follow each other. In my case the calcium are 550 and the kh=6. Actually the...
  9. brown algae/cyano problem

Hi Len Your description of dinoflagellates fits perfectly. Actually there are several of the strings containing bubbles as you descripe. I am very interested in learning more about dinoflagellates, so if you know any web adresses covering the issue please post:) My calcium reactor have not...
  10. brown algae/cyano problem

Hi My tank have been running for 1 year. After the tank has cycled, i've got lots of calciurous algers. During the summer the temperature raised to about 28-29 degree celcius for a short period of time. The temperature are now back to normal but i have got lots of brown algae covering most of...
