I'm a bit leary of Ebay--having heard of so many people getting the shaft -from trying to get a great deal.
I got my RO/DI unit from a catalog--and spending the extra bucks and getting a quality one was a great deal.
I have a 90 gal planted tank that has 2 red-spotted and 2 blue diamonds and they do like water changes. As for being hard--I would say not any harder than a reef tank. I keep the temperature at 82 degrees and use only RO/DI that has been adjusted for mineral balance.
