  1. ORP question

I've noticed that anything over 360 and my corals (mostly frogspawn) get fried.
  2. Journel: a new reefkeeper on a budget!

Once your bio-load increases the Sxclone will underachieve. I had a 150 on my 55 but switched to an ASM-GX1 (although this is a sump skimmer). You can find info on modifications for the 100 on some websites. I modified my 150 for my 20gal by adding an airline with a microbubble airstone, seems...
  3. Anyone put a pendant over a tank without ceiling hanging?

You could always modify a standing hat hanger or an existing light pole to hold a halide pendant over. It would have to be balanced either by the base or a counterweight but I believe one could be DIYed.
  4. How many people here have used or are using a Seaclone?

It will eventually work, it needs to 'mature'. Mine took about 3 months before it would work properly (150 model). I was just about to scrap it when low and behold, the skim started to become consistent. Yes, most people yell junk and run away screaming but as a low ended skimmer its working...
  5. Just Appeared...

I have them too, I think someone said they were sponges? You do have a nice 'hotdog' bubble algae though...
  6. Temp seems high . . do I need a chiller?

Why don't you just do what someone else has already mentioned on this forum? Fill 2 liter bottles with water then freeze them and put them in your sump. Lot cheaper then a chiller....
  7. bubble tip anemone

An 80 gallon with 6 55 watt pcs I think would make it wander, you'd need more light...
  8. Hair algae update

 Have you tried a fuge with Chaetomorpha Macro :?:
  9. new setup lighting anemone and clam

If your going for 250s, get the DE HQI. I just got two 150s with PFO pendants (I already had 220 pcs that use to be the mains but just weren't cutting it, now they're the dawn/dusk) Go with the 20ks, they might go faster but I've found that the life expectancy of bulbs is random anyway. Heck, my...
  10. ARGH what am I doing wrong?

I think da colts hit the nail on the head, too much pytoplankton, is too much nutrients which leads to too much algae. IMO, I think the DSB is overrated for causing problems, its most likely something else before its that. Everybody has different problems with the same causes. Heck, I...
  11. Herbert Axelrod Now In Jail

Actually, its really not surprising if you understand it from a certain perspective, dealing with antiquities has its dark side. This sort of business goes on all the time his problem was that he got caught. Just ask Martha Stewart...
  12. time to buy new lights!

Just got 2 PFO DE HQI 150 pendants for my 55 (along with the 220 pc I already had). Make sure you get the 20ks, the light is incredible...
  13. Yellow Polyps Dieing back

I suspect something more to them than what has been said? Maybe they are sensitive to something that is unknown at this point. Mine are doing the same thing, not as easy as we have been led to believe?
  14. snowflake eels

How tight is the lid on your tank, I hear that eels like to 'escape'.
