  1. My nano... my dilemma...

Thanks guys. Nano is 15g. I'd post pix but cannot figure out how to do it on this forum. The BTA is attached at base to the largest live rock in the tank and it stretches out big and tall toward my dual compacts. Looks beautiful. I will probbaly have to move the anemone together with the...
  2. My nano... my dilemma...

I have a well established nano with a large BTA, a small maroon clown, 2 peppermint shrimp, various red and blue leg hermit crabs, and an assortment of mushrooms and corals... and my wife and I just bought a new house. The nano has to move. None of my friends can house my critters... and I do...
  3. Bristleworms... good or bad?

Thaks guys. Seems like I'll just let the worms mind their own business. Fun to watch them work at night. They hide during the day. Probably see 10+ of them running around my 15g nano at night. they're about 1" long on average. thx, L76
  4. Bristleworms... good or bad?

Seems like a silly question... but my understanding is that bristleworms eat detritus and other undesirables in a tank. So... to what extent do you want to eradicate a tank of them and why? I'm new to the reef hobby.... appreciate feedback. Cheers, L76
  5. What supplements do you add to your nano?

I have assortment of mushrooms, small BTA, live rock/sand, 1 small maroon clown and a torch coral. -L76
  6. First time reef setup - advice on corals for beginers?

Thanks guys. All great ideas. Is it OK to introduce a small group of corals/mushrooms all at same time... or should I stagger introductions out. Any general guidelines? thx, -d
  7. First time reef setup - advice on corals for beginers?

Hi Guys, I have a healthy, cycled 15g Nano with dual compacts. 2.5" of live sand, 12lbs+ live rock, 4 small nails, 2 hermit crabs, a small torch coral, and one 1 small marron clown. Looking to setup my first reef in this nano... and wondering what corals you might advise for beginers? I will...
  8. Aiptasia and Peppermint Shrimp

Thanks Guys. I am working with a 15g nanocube. Aiptaisia are very small and dispersed throughout my live rock. Only fish is a small maroon clown. I am in process of building a mini reef with a small BTA as my main display. If it gets too big, I'll tranfer it to my 55g tank. Just wanted to...
  9. Aiptasia and Peppermint Shrimp

I have a minor outbreak of aiptaisia. I have heard that peppermint shrimp will eat aiptaisia. Is this true? I so, are peppermint shrimp aggressive toward other anemone species (e.g. BTA, ritteri, sebae anemone, etc.?) or corals? thx, -d
  10. What filtation do you use on your Nano?

Thanks Meloco. I did read your reply. My questions are: 1. Why would my Nitrate still be 10-12ppm after 6 weeks of consitent water changes... and I have minimal life in the tank (e.g. only rock, sand, 2 hermit crabs, and a single branch of a small torch coral) 2. Do I need to re-cycle the...
  11. What filtation do you use on your Nano?

I have 12g JBJ Nanocube DX.. I'm using the stock sponges, bio balls, and ceramic cylinders + phosguard and denitrator. Thinking of adding protein skimmer. Any advice? I've heard folks have success replacing bio balls, sponges, etc. with live rock... if I do this swap how long should I...
  12. Acceptable Nitrates for BTA in a 12g Nano?

Hi Guys, Q: What are acceptable Nitrate levels for a well established Nano? BACKGROUND: I am running a 12g Nanocube that was a successful home to my 10 year old mated pair of oceallris clowns... until my son was born about 7 weeks ago. Went to the hospital... got carried away for 3 days...
