  1. securing pvc fittings to Rio2100?

Lame question on my part. I just went for it and used the normal PVC pipe solvent to join the slip fittings to the pump itself. I've always used the marine land flexible tubing and their valves / disconnects. I figured it was time to switch to standard PVC fittings. I'm on my way now.
  2. securing pvc fittings to Rio2100?

What are some good adhesive options for securing PVC fittings / pipes to a Rio2100 body? Probably not worth of being in the DIY forum...
  3. Mushrooms are taking over my tank!

You can't fully see the left side being taken over by mushrooms but they are slowly taking up every spot they can around and on the leather...
  4. Mushrooms are taking over my tank!

Len It might be as you described for yourself and beyond repair. I tried it with green hairy mushrooms a year ago or so. IT was amazing at how quickly the mushroom melted and seemed as though it would be gone. But then it would grow back as though nothing happened. sfsuphysics I figured I could...

I like the putty idea.... I might try kalkwaser paste followed by the aquamend putty on top to hold it in place longer. I haven't tried the putty before but I imagine once I get it I will find quite a few other reef applications for it. Thanks for the idea!

I love my Nexus 120mm fans. I have two and am able to run them slower using a single DIY temp controller. The higher the temperature the faster they run. Even at their higher speeds they are inaudible. Here is the controller. http://www.heatsink-guide.com/content.p ... trol.shtml I would...
  8. Mushrooms are taking over my tank!

Any good recommendations for removing mushrooms from a tank? I have tried kalkwasser in the past and it would seem to affect them for the 1st two days... but then they would come back like nothing ever happened. Crazy things! Be careful of mushrooms and green star polyps. After having my tank...
  9. Anybody try to run reef tank with PLC?

Not really PLC but.. I've been playing around with a basic stamp and plan on using that to control my tank. LCD display for real time tank parameters and UI, Lighting, canopy fans with speed control, x10 to start window mounted AC, moon lighting ( varying intensity over the month), and general...
  10. Algea Problems

    1) Overfeeding is probably one of the main causes. I have had good luck with feeding my tank approximately every other day or even less. When I do feed I just give them a small pinch of flake food or Formula One. 2) the fluval canister filter can collect a lot of the uneaten food and waste...
