  1. How to keep a white sand bed white?

Thanks, I do have about ten of them (probably not nearly enough) I've also a starfish that lives in the sand. (couple yrs. now) I did add two sifter gobies and they seem to be doing a good job so far. Just not sure if a 180 not deep sandbed is enough to keep both alive..but we'll see how it goes.
  2. How to keep a white sand bed white?

Thinking of switching one of my tanks over to a fish only.(180 gal) Maybe a couple fish as in a angel and a tang. I'm thinking of a very small amount of white sand, maybe 1/2 to 1" deep. What do you think is best on how to keep this looking really nice and white with the lowest amount of...
  3. Help rid tank of aptasia!(age old question.any new answers?)

Well there is definitely some discrepancy on wetwebmedia about pepperment shrimp. (When the Aiptasia are gone, the shrimp will do fine foraging on whatever they find and are very rarely a threat to sessile invertebrates. Occasionally, they will steal food from corals but it is almost unheard...
  4. Help rid tank of aptasia!(age old question.any new answers?)

Very funny Matt! .., I wouldn't mind trying the peppermint shrimp though, but I'm worried about my zoo's. I have oodles of them and some of those beautiful hot pink ones that I'd hate to lose. I'm going to do a search on that but unless they are 100% safe I'll not try them. The weird thing...
  5. Help rid tank of aptasia!(age old question.any new answers?)

Oh thanks! I sure do love them too! We've had alot of horses but I'm really hooked on this particular breed...not only their beauty but their incredible minds and personalities. Do you have Andalusions? If so I'd love to see them.
  6. Help rid tank of aptasia!(age old question.any new answers?)

Well this past year my tanks have really had a aptasia explosion. I've treated them (every month or so) with Joe's Juice and my own kalk concoction only to find them disappear for a week or two (thinking their dead) but then they just come back and look even bigger? I haven't been on this...
  7. Opistognathus rosenblatti

I've read lots and looked for years for one of these. Came across one the other day and brought him home. I know about the DSB and the care needed, but recently there has been talk about cooler temps for them. One German site states 68F ??? Would love to talk to someone or hear that they can...
  8. What do you feed your corals?

No offense to any of you that don't feed anything...but I'm only interested in those that do feed.
  9. What do you feed your corals?

I've usually fed DT's in the past but lately am having a hard time getting it. I'd like to know what you guys feed your corals as far as phytoplankton and zooplanton goes. What type you like and why. I always liked the idea of the different size phyto in the DT's as I think this is really...
  10. Well, I just got done burying most of my fish :(

Sorry to hear this. Of all the dumb things new reefers can do and do...I think (speaking for myself) I've lost more livestock due to "equipment malfunctions" then anything else. Wouldn't you like to be able to hold the manufacture's resonsible. If it makes you feel any better...just...
  11. Can someone ID this clownfish?

You've confirmed what I thought. thanks
  12. Can someone ID this clownfish?

It's not the best picture, but the colors are correct. Can anyone tell me what she is?' thanks
  13. american marine calcium pinpoint moniter?

Do you have one? and if so do you like it? any regrets buying it...was it worth it...like your opinion on it. Is it easy to calibrate? etc. I know they run almost $300. cdn., but it sure would make like easier if I had one....but then I spent $169.00 on a salinity pinpoint 4 years ago and...
  14. Question about metal halide and actinic's??

Why? Do clam's not tolerate 20k lights? Haven't heard that before. Can you fill me in on it. thanks Lynn
  15. Coral Beauty nipping

Well this way is a little harsh, but has worked with all my fish and they have survived with not a problem. You get a tiny (#12 or so) barbless fly hook and basically fish him out. You just have to be super fast and not let your other fish bite the hook first. I just did it again with my pink...
