I was wondering whether or not certain things are needed for refugiums. Firstly do you need lighting on a fuge and if so how powerful? Also if a fuge is used for cultivating a natural food source etc, what mtype of food is it and what does it feed?

Thanks guys.... I have seen one before but just didn't realise what it did. So basically it's for propogating a live food source plus extra fitration at the same time!?

In my experience the most likely culprit are the lights - or possibly a heater if you are using any. Had problems with voltage several times over the years and it usually turns out to be lights or heaters.

I already have a good skimmer - Deltec AP850. Is Eheim still the best option for a return pump?

So what's the difference between a calcium reactor and a nilsen reactor? If they do the same job which one is the best?

What exactly is a refugium and what's it used for? Could I add one into my sump design?

I am planning to keep all manner of soft/hard corals sps & lps and inverts. Do I need a calcium reactor or can you substitute this with an admixture?

I had planned to use mainly Fiji LR but now I think I would like to mix several different types together. Like Kaelini LR, Lalo LR, Tonga Branch LR & Tonga Deepwater LR. It it possible to do this without any consequences? Also can anyone tell me where the best place to buy LR from in the UK?
