I don't have the Red Planet yet but everything I've read elsewhere says its very light sensitive. Too much light seems to bring out the red and eliminate the green. I keep hearing of people moving it lower in their tanks to hold on to the green.
Besides the algae, how does you tank look? For me, I think its kind of necessary and cleaning the glass is just part of owning a reef tank. I got my tank to ULN (almost no glass cleaning necessary then as all my algae died) via Vitamin C dosing but all my SPS paled. Some nutrients are...
I like the spray paint comparison and agree completely. The two spots on my glass that get algae the quickest are right off to the side of my vortec and the opposite side of the tank where the flow hits the glass again. If I let it grow it looks exactly like a spray paint mark though it takes...
I have about 35 gallons total as well. I started with 50% of the recommended dosage for the first week or so and worked my way up. If you see the beginnings of an algae issue, back off immediately.
I'd be interested in a picture of the 90 gal full system as well. Also sent you a PM for a pic of the 60gal 36x36x12 tank and stand. I assume that one is not drilled/reef ready.
I'm not good on zoa naming but I don't think they are Mohawks though I couldn't say what they are. I think some on the pictures are Green Bay Packers, LOTR, Rose Nebulas, NG & PD. The rest I've just acquired from various sources without names.
Thanks all and feel free to hijack. Its part of the fun and it clues me in to what's going on here. I'm not sure if I can multi-quote on this board (at least I can't figure out how to do it) so I'll just answer in one big blob withour references.
The tank is about 9 months old now. Of course...
I'd read about that tank (RSM) awhile ago but hadn't realized they started making them yet. Very nice but not quite what I was looking for. I tried to see what Aquarium Obsessed was about but their WEB Site seems to be down.
At 150g, the Marineland is a bit big for me.
Russ - Checked out your site. Maybe Aquarium Obsessed Custom is the way to go if someone doesn't make a 60-70g cube as a standard.
