Hi! I definitely agree that downsizing is an essential step if you move frequently! Carrying a 90 gallon aquarium and buckets full of LR around everywhere is just not fun or recommended. :) I have a 24 gallon FOWLR and I love it, but since you're going more for the corals and less for the fish...

Removing the LR at this point would be counterproductive. LR is pretty on its own, especially in an established aquarium, and really helps with the biological filtration. I recommend keeping all of it in there (the fish will thank you for it by thriving!) and going FOWLR.

Just a quick question: is your tank near a window? Natural sunlight can be a hair algae stimulant... I know you said your tank has been set up for 3 years with no problems, so this is just a shot in the dark, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask!

You will be very, very fortunate if you have so much coralline algae that all visible surfaces of your rocks are covered by it! & by the time that happens, there will be plenty of bene's everywhere. Not to worry!

I like the reef club suggestions, and won't knock 'em, but most clowns will eat flakes... Have you considered purchasing an automated feeder for those weeks? Much cheaper than a fish sitter... Just a suggestion!

Thanks, seamaiden. Yes, Frank will be missed. And honestly, I'll miss Rocky too, but he is definitely an invert murderer and I don't think he's a good fit in my otherwise peaceful tank!
