  1. Aquarium Sediment

Thanks everyone for the input. I do have a piece of foam in the refugium which all the water has to pass though, but it's not a very tight mesh so maybe I could just go to a tighter one. I would rather not have to buy a mechnical filter at this time. Thank you so much for the advice!!!!
  2. looking for a shrimp for my tank

Cleaner shrimp are great. They can grow much later then pepermints. The pepermints in my tank just hide all the time while the cleaner shrimp stay out in the open most of the time. Plus they can help with disease prevention and repair which is always a bonus.
  3. Aquarium Sediment

I have a 180 gallon aquarium that is almost two years old now. For the past 6 to 9 months I've really started to accumulate more and more sediment throughout the aquarium. It really seems to stick to the rock making it difficult to remove during water changes. It's all over the rock...in the...
  4. BTA experience

Well my blue carpet anemone just died after 4 weeks. I bought it from a reputable fish store here in town and was in good health when I got him, but he didn't make it. The clown fish never took to him (Osc. clowns). They didn't even go near him. Any idea why that might be? He moved around a...
  6. Bacteria

Thanks for the info! I have been very good about checking the water parameters weekly (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, calcium, pH, salinity, etc.) and so far everything has been normal, but maybe I missed something. The fish seem active and have been eating well though, so maybe they...
  7. Bacteria

Well, it appears that my two yellow tailed blue damsels have come down with fin and tail rot. I have a question regarding the best way to treat this. I have read that I should quarintine them and then treat them with a chemical such as Melafix. What about the main tank? Do I need to treat...
