I've outfitted two tanks with TBS rock, and I share Guy's opinion. Regardless of the density, though, it is more than adequate for biological filtration. As with any live rock, there will be species that won't make it. Nonetheless, a lot survives. I'll avoid the temperate/tropical debate...

Here are a few of mine, mostly things that came in on TBS live rock. There are probably more lying around. Most move too fast for scale bars. fireworm (possibly eurythoe) hermit from gulf hidden cuccumber hydroids microstars terebellid tentacles tube coral (Cladocora arbuscula)...

Can't forget greenbanded gobies. Small, available CB, and beautiful. Here's mine:
