Thanks very much, this is exactly the symptoms I'm having. With this new knowledge I have a few things to try...

  3. Problem with Durso Standpipe gushing water

From time to time, seemly at random my Durso Standpipe willstart draining funny. What happens is itwill start going into a drain cycle where there will be a rush of water intothe sump, followed by no water, then a bug gush of water again. This may go on for many minutes before it...
  4. LEDs

The modes are very simple. In AI's case you just configure from your computer or smartphone the probability and intensity of the effect (cloud and/or lightning) and it does the rest I first thought it was a gimmick I would not use but after seeing it actually work I decided to leave both on at...
  5. LEDs

I have a 90g and am using 2 AI Hydras. I know you said you didn't want multiple units and cloud modes. Honestly I don't know much about the single large strip models but just to tell you about the AIs, I'm very happy with them. I love the total customization of the colors and time of day...
  6. best tank manufacturer

I'd recommend you check out Aquavim at http://www.aquavim.com/ Their tanks are like nothing else on the market, very well made with some very appealing designs and cabinetry. I setup a 93g Moonview several months ago and I couldn't be happier with it.
  7. Aquavim 93g Moonview setup

Tank update. About 6 weeks in, tank is doing well so far. The 2 triggers flash once in a while but no other signs of distress. Everyone is swimming around nicely and eating every chance they get.
  8. Possible signs of marine ich and treatment

Interesting. Well I've got 8 fish in the tank. 4 of then have been there since start-up. Everybody looks great, they are all eating well. The gills look normal, the breathing looks fine. The red-tail trigger scratched once tonight during feeding, otherwise he was happily swimming around...
  9. Possible signs of marine ich and treatment

SO my new fish have been in my new tank for about a week now. 2 of them have scratched against the coral now and then. Not a lot, but I have seem them do this. There is no sign of dots on their skin yet. I just added a UV light 2 days ago. What should I do? I can't do a QT tank and I...
  10. OK to plumb UV into skimmer feed?

So how does one adjust their flow rates? I see the UV talks about a flow rate of 400 GPH for 90,000 u/cm2 kill (some scientific measurement but what is recommended for a good kill) but if I buy a Fluval SP2 which has a flow rate somewhere around 950GPH at the head and I run the pipe a few feet...
  11. OK to plumb UV into skimmer feed?

I've just purchased a UV and am trying to decide how to best plumb it into my system. I have a Mag 9.5 pump which feeds the skimmer today and was wonder if it would be fine to redirect the water first into the UV, then from the exit of the UV send it into the skimmer. Or I could add yet...
  12. Aquavim 93g Moonview setup

Added my seed chaeto today. Seems like it came with a little calurpa grapes hitchhiking along...
  13. What's this algae

Oh no, I thought Caulerpa was bad because it can go sexual and destroy the display? Actually it looks very cool and before the Miracle Mud spoiled it with dust it looked even nicer. I'm guessing after a few days when the mud dust clears up it will look even better. So your recommendation...
  14. What's this algae

My FO tank is up just 3 weeks now. It's cycled and I'm starting to get a little nitrate. I wanted to get my refigium started today so I picked up some chaetomorpha from my LFS but it came with what I think is a hitchhiker algae. The other algae is very vinelike and has some bubbles as...
  15. vote on the light

I just purchased 2 Hydra's for my 90g replacing a 4 bulb T5. The T5's were much too bright and bland looking meaning while the bulbs were all fancy tems and this, it still looked like cafeteria lighting. The Hydra is a completely different animal. Zero noise from the cooling fans (compared...
