I would say 2 but the only way to really know is to try and see where it works best. Its irritating but most skimmers have to be adjusted this way.

If its just for show we are paying a great deal of money just for a blue light. Even changing them every six month so we don't get too much of a spectrum shift.

I posted this before on one board the consensus was actenic are simple to make the reef look blue. (just for show). The other board said it was necessary for coral, they somehow utilize the color. What do you think, any proof?

Try getting up a few hours after the reef lights are out and search for the source. It could be that some creature going through its breeding cycle, spewing eggs and sperm . Its not likely that something died if the water perameters are good; and it cleared up for a day. Just a guess!!

1) Its a good idea to document in a notebook what you do to your reef. Include how livestock react to changes. 2) When caulerpa start growing, Don't become so fascinated with the growth that you don't want to harvest it. It can quickly takeover.
