  1. Shoot me down please!

Once my new live rock is installed and the Nitrogen levels stabilize, maybe I could put the skimmr on a timer, with the intention of reducing the run time over time. I would keep monitoring the levels as I went.
  2. Shoot me down please!

I figured the water would evaporate and wasn't trying to exclude that need. I have a large amount of shells in the tank, #20 I think as part of the substrate. The gunk from the skimmer is bio matter and lost elements if I throw it out. I was thinking let it cycle through the sump where it...
  3. Shoot me down please!

My intention is to develope a self contained closed system; one with no wasted salt, no purchased water, and no lost nutrients or elements. I have a 60 gallon I'm building into a reef tank. We are about to add the first live rock when it finishes curing,( seperate bucket of course). I have a...
  4. Nitrogen Cycle Chart

This may help you track the cycle in your tanks. http://www.patchnet.tzo.net/Nitrogen%20Cycle%20Chart.xls If the link won't work for you, [email protected] I will try to attach it too.
  5. Water Changes During Cycling - How Much?

No water changes during cycling, just after, one time. You would just interupt the process, it's like dominoes. let them fall. If you already have fish in the tank, ( I couldn't wait and put two cheap ones in so i could have something to look at), then your rock will have to cycle somewhere...
  6. Nitrogen Cycle Chart

Tracks Nitrogen and pH, giving a graphical chart to visualize the changes as the tank cycles. Change only the first date, the rest are keyed to it and will follow automatically. Enjoy!
