I have one blue damsel in a 55 gal. He's been in it for about 3-4 months, and been doing well. I'm going through the same thing, with a FOWLR and switching to MH. I was wondering if it would be possible to set the lights about 16" above the surface of the water, would they still hold their effectiveness (Dual 175W bulbs)? Thanks

Ok let's say I cycled my tank on aug 1st. with about 5 small pices of shrimp? This tank only had a DSB and a cpr bakpak WITH biobale. (NO LIVE ROCK) no fish (or anything else for that matter) were ever added for three months, (1)will the bacteria stil be there or (2)will i have to cycle again?

so 10000K would be a nice middle ground bulb?

thing is i have no LR only a DSB.... would it still be a good idea to take the biobale out?

Are these worth while, what is the biggest difference in experince between the Icecap, blueline, and ARO electronic MH ballast anyone used them with good or bad results?

5500k is very white correct?

what function would the removal of the biobale play? Other than that i have no filter for the tank, with the exception of a 5" DSB and a skimmer...

Is 5500k to white a light for good coral growth even with an actinic? This is for a 55gal tank. With few corals.
