  2. Durso Gargle

Yes. To be silent a drain must have either a full siphon or a slow enough flow to let the water nicely run down the pipe. Anything in between and you get gurgling and flushing. This link is a very good drain pipe system but it also has a nice write up about flow speed and what causes noise.
  3. Algae ID please

Phos and Nitrate have been 0 for several weeks now. Lights on 9 hours. I figure if anything I'm over feeding a bit. I'm also wondering if the amount of cyano is really anything to worry about. What you see in the pics is about all of it. The stringy stuff has been there a couple of weeks now...
  4. Algae ID please

Cyano is what I'm going with. Tank is only 4 months old so I figure it will work itself out. Thanks :)
  5. Algae ID please

The stringy stuff? the brown stuff on the rocks thanks!
  6. Million of bubble algae

Rock scrubbing question. I assume just scrub the areas with ba? Do you rinse the rock?
  7. Million of bubble algae

They do but since they eat it the resulting algae from the spores is also under control. Doesn't really go away, just stays more or less managed.
  8. Do I have to flip the snails?

I have a few different kinds. Dwarf Cerith Nassarius Vibex Florida Cerith Virgin Nerites Zig Zag Periwinkles They aren't turtles but can they get back over on their own?
  9. Clownfish acting odd

Well by accident I think I figured out why my clown has been in the corner. I shut off my CL pump to feed him. Since he would hardly budge I wanted to be sure he had time to get the food. After he ate he started swimming around a bunch. So I valved back the CL output more than I had been, from...
  10. Clownfish acting odd

Thanks! I Zip-tied rock to egg crate and then filled in the spaces with pond foam. After the foam set I covered it with slow cure epoxy and poured sand all over it. Let it sit for a few days and then used silicone to attach the sections to the back glass and the overflows. I suppose I could be...
  11. Clownfish acting odd

it's 6 foot. pics from when I started the cycle. The kitten has since been replaced with a Reeflo Dart. Seems to work much better and require less food. The livestock list isn't 100% set, but that's where I'm at now. Anything from this point revolves around a basically peaceful reef and...
  12. Clownfish acting odd

The canopy is pretty complete. This is the list I'm working from, in order of planned purchase. I don't think I'll be getting any more fish until February, I've got some other purchases to make plus want to start adding corals and I've got to pace the $ outlay. Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion...

  14. Clownfish acting odd

Yeah I've read about their weird behavior just thought I'd check. Thanks for the feedback
  15. Clownfish acting odd

I have a tank bred Ocellaris that is currently the only fish in my tank. He's been in there about 6 weeks. He rarely ever leaves the back corner. I know clowns are by nature pretty timid about swimming around because of predators but it's gotten to the point he won't go after food that isn't...
