  2. For Sale

Hey steve the candy cane thats blue looks great I'll take it. Aaron ended up giving me the birdsnest so i paid him the 30 for it, as well as a frag of the zoos. Both look great in my tank. Thanks again.
  3. Nitrates in an SPS Tank

Sprung was speaking about corals in general not clams at all.. that was just a reference from my knowledge. Although he said nitrates which I do remember as well as phosphates, I think he was just referring to a nitrogen and phosphate source in general in smaller amounts nothing to be problematic.
  4. Nitrates in an SPS Tank

I believe Sprung was making a reference to the corals using trace amounts of nitrates and phosphates in their growth processes. Although he didn't say whether this comment was directed towards any specific coral, he was speaking about corals in general. Regardless of this mention to a coral's...
  5. Suggestions for this site.....

when i browse in the forums, it says the date and time of the last post, but not who the poster was (like in general discussion forum). I find this a bit annoying since I can't remember what time I posted, and I don't know if the last post was mine, or if someone else posted something new. are...
  6. A couple of tank shots.

Paracheilinus carpenteri, Carpenter's Wrasse. Got it from just phish.. after a long wait. They're not too uncommon, but this specimen just rocked. - Mike
  7. IF I WAS TO OPEN A NEW LFS?

you're right that it should be accessible by bus, train, or subway, but I'm going to have to disagree that people will just visit on occasion. I know plenty of people who drive up to the stores in CT on a regular basis because they just have a lot better stuff than the places over here and know...
  8. Any 1 day drivable Live Rock Dist.

its probably more than 3 hours but dr. mac has some nice live rock and a nice curing system, he's located in maryland. he doesn't allow walkins, since the incident from a while ago, but he would probably meet up with you somewhere. www.drmaccorals.com just phish is closer and has great stuff...
  9. IF I WAS TO OPEN A NEW LFS?

rent would probably be cheaper in staten island than manhatten. so even if there were more customers in manhatten, would it be worth it.
  10. A couple of tank shots.

www.coralcity.com It's doing great and color is developing more pink and purple by the day.
  11. IF I WAS TO OPEN A NEW LFS?

Having high quality equipment (as well as a nice variety of metal halide lighting) will instantly take the interest of hobbyists like ourselves, but for all the other regular uneducated hobbyists, aside from educating them, a little marketing in front of their eyes will do the trick..
  12. IF I WAS TO OPEN A NEW LFS?

set up a tank running with plain saltwater in it, and hook up a bunch of shitty skimmers on it, as well as one of the nice quality ones that you are selling. Then you just add some additive to change the surface tension and get the skimmers going, when everyone sees the expensive skimmer pull...
  13. Mexican Turbo Snails

you know what else fishtown has - LIMITED EDITION CORALS - they are already dying when you buy them! no extra charge!
  14. IF I WAS TO OPEN A NEW LFS?

I did the webdesign/graphics for www.coralcity.com , If you plan on opening a website just for advertising purposes (dont have to sell online), let me know because I'd like to help - reefer to reefer (the legal kind). As far as I know all the stores in brooklyn while I used to live there...
  15. IF I WAS TO OPEN A NEW LFS?

I would offer my help and try to give you some of my business, but at the same time, the chances of you making money are slim. I'm not saying you can't be good at it , its just one of those businesses where if you care about livestock health and all, its going to be hard to make money IMO..
