I found this on another board and thought everyone might appreciate it How many message board posters does it take to change a lightbulb? Answer: 1,343 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed; 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs...
  5. Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

I've heard this creature would make a great addition to a reef tank, but I can't find any information on it. All I know is that it lives in a pineapple under the sea? Anyone know what this is?
  6. Trying to get my salinity right, this is hard!

LOL, you edited out my post! At least you quoted the only parts that probably mattered. Okay, I'm still trying to get this into the absolute simplest and most practical terms. For example, if someone asks me what there SG should be, if they have a thermometer calibrated for 60...
  7. Brown stuff everywhere..

There seem to be many possible reasons for your problems. Changing the sandbed could have caused some temporary problems that should settle down soon. Bad lights could be it. Nitrates are definitely in there. Nitrites will soon be nitrates, hopefully very soon so your fish don't suffer too...
  8. Something disturbing with Aquacon

If anyone wants to see the threads that got this started in ramr that cjdevito mentioned, I have them on my site here: Unbelievable!!! Update on Aquacon ripoff artists Stealing pics is just the tip of the iceberg with Aquacon. How many people actually believe Goniopora is a great beginners...
  9. Marc Weiss Products

No, no, no. I think the problem is with the user, not the product. You see, the proper way to use Weiss' products is to keep your animals in a bucket on the porch and use ten times the recommended dose. Also, be sure to cycle the tank (or bucket) with a Grouper or Powder Blue Tang. From what...
  10. Trying to get my salinity right, this is hard!

Randy, First of all, excellent article. It really cleared some things up for me. Of course, in the process it also brought up more questions and generally sent my brain spinning, but that is another topic I am getting a good general understanding, but want to check my math with my example...
  11. My Aqualine is very yellow if nipple is not "up"

I have a 400 watt, 10K, Aqualine-Bushke bulb that is VERY yellow when the nipple is not up. When the nipple is up, the color is more blue/white, although the intensity does appear a little less to my eyes. This one is not a case of a bad connection, because I took it out and back in several...
  12. Finicky Eaters.

It sounds like they are both eating so I wouldn't worry much. You might want to make sure your frozen mix includes algae and some type of angel formula. Since you have seen them grazing they might also be eating the food you feed, you just aren't seeing it. They may just still be shy. My...
  13. Not My Fault Mentality

<blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote My problem is that claims on either side are starting to not ring true. The unnamed biologist has a good point that the people defending the hobby usually depend on it, which makes them biased. Of course, the guy quoted...
