I personally brought 4 ventralis caught by Chip Boyle back on the plane from the Cook Islands with me in 2003. They were in a tank by themselves. They ate, but never well, and I lost all over a period of 6 months one by one. While they may be a sound species they arevery far from easy.

I have an 8 incher in my reef. It has never really paid attention to the corals, but I don't have any Lobos or other fleshy corals in with it. No interest in SPS. It was a challenge to get it eating well... Scott Michael's book is absolutely right in describing their temperment. reef cam...

Villi, These were wild collected from Mauritius. I hope to breed them when they get large enough. I am keeping all 4 together now but plan to move them as they pair off. They share a 150 gallon tub with 2 adult A. latezonatus and the mertensii, red haddoni, and 4 rose anemones.

Just wanted to show off my gasters - here are 3 of 4 (plus one latezonatus) hiding in their S. mertensii anemone:
