I have a 29Gal bio cube and looking to upgrade the lighting
I have been looking at two fixtures
- EcoTech Radion XR30w G3 PRO
- Hamilton Cebu Sun 175W 14k Metal Halide with T5
The tank is split between LPS and SPS and i'm running a chiller.
Just trying to see what everyone's thoughts are.

My dosing is automated using apex controller and the dosing pumps are BRS Doser which puts out 1.1 mL per minute. It added 6ML of 2 part Seachem Fusion with in 24 hours. Its also programed to turn off the dosing pumps if the PH goes above 8.40
I added a bag of Chemi Pure Elite...
Loose
The issue started around the time i changed the bulb
and at the same time i added the Tunze Automatic Top off Nano
I moved the bulb up 12 inches above the tank to reduce the PAR level, but it didnt help
I just checked the salinity its 1.025 and im using a Marine Depot Refractometer
When ever i do a water change the parameter always match the tank water as far as temp and salinity. I'm also using Red Sea salt which i've been using for a while.
I just replaced the bulb about 2 weeks ago. I went from an XM 20K to a Phoenix 14K
I also was trying the red sea program but switch right back to the seachem reef fusion
This tank has been running for the past 14 months. For the past week my corals have been getting sicker each day
I'm not sure what went wrong. My water chemistry looks OK.
what am i missing?
I added photos
Tank Info:
BIO Cube 29 Gal
PH 8.3
Calcium 450
Magnesium 1380
Alkalinity 8.3
Phosphate...
I'm not concerned about temperature, i have theJ BJ Arctica Titanium Chiller running on my tank it works great really quite almost don't hear it
6 hours sounds like a good starting point
Ok, so i went with the Metal Halide 14K Phoenix bulb, looks great
i currently have it suspended 12 inches above the water
1. what is the recommended height for keeping the fixture above the water?
2. How long should i leave the light on?
The picture posted on reef central looks hairy where the stuff i have looks more like flat white/clear film.
I used a brush to clean the rock and did a 15% water change (RO/DI new cartridges) but it looks like its coming back. Whats driving me crazy is that its only on one rock.
Red Sea test...
I attached a picture; its not a great picture cause It was a bit hard to get the shot. The rock has a whites ish fuzzy haze/look
should i try to clean it with a bush
