I did not imply that you said the Tetra kit was crap but that the guy from Salifert did not say the Tetra kit was crap.
Have you any links to these catalog?
Thanks for the replies.
What I am trying to find out is why there is so much difference. For every person who says that the most expensive are usually the best, there will be another person who that is not always the case.
I'm going to go to a few LFS's this weekend and get them to test my...
I have used Tetra test kit for No3 for a while now and when I test the water of my 40gal reef I always got a reading of 15-20ppm.
This always made me believe that the Aqua-Medic Nitrate reducer run on the tank was useless.
I then brought a Salifert No3 testkit and found the No3 level to be...
I've just changed from 4 fluro tubes over my 40gal reef to a 150w MH light. Now the corals don't seem to be opening fully. Is this just temporary or don I need to do something. The lamp is for marine use and the bulb 6 months old.
I've run a Multi for about 18 months now. I had the same problem. What eventually happened is that after turning the pump off to clean etc, when power was put back on the pump did not draw in any air.
I put a small air pump feeding the venturi. You have to be careful how much air you pump into...
I had the same problem with the green stuff overgrowing my sand. I got a starfish which burrows just under the sand and keeps it clear.
The problem I had was one was not enough, so I brought another and all that happens now is one hitches a ride on the others back!
I'm not sure if one's just...
I put a Mandarin in my tank when I had lots of flatworms. she ate the lot. Then a few months later she died. I think she ate them all then had nothing to eat! If you know how to feed them when the Flatworm's have gone, then maybe this fish is the answer?
Not sure about most of the models you mention.
I have a 45gallon reef system witgh a standard Prizm on it. A good budget skimmer and easy to clean/maintain. The only drawback with this skimmer is it is a little noisy.
The Berlin and the Prizm Pro would be overkill in my opinion.
GDP (gallons per day) BE careful! Some are rated in how much good water they produce. Others are rated in how much they will PROCESS, and as 65% goes to waste you can see why prices may vary
I Use a KENT unit. Seem to be ok but the if your in Europe you may want to change the tap supplied as...
Just in case you decide to spend some $$$$ on equipment.
Don't buy the Aqua-Medic Nitrate Reducer. They're crap. I've got one running ona 40gal reef system using the computer and pump set-up (supposed to be fully automated) and it does hold the nitrate down but itreally should do better.
I've...
Has anybody used one of these sulphur de-nitrators?
I've heard they are very good but I am a little unsure if to buy one after buying an Aqua-Medic system including the pump and computer (over £400 or $600 for our US friends) and finding it to be a complete load of crap and Aqua-medic not...
I would take him back to your LFS and see if they will exchange it. Try not to buy a fish if the circumstances are going to keep him the back that long. You could try transfering him to a quarantine tank as see if a small dose of copper will clear the eyes up.
as you already have him in the...
To be honest, I used to just squirt the bottle in there whenever I remebered to do it. The test kit I use only goes up to 500ppm. How do you measure 550?
I will take it to my LFS and get them to check it. Is 500ppm too high?
