  1. Jellies EVERYWHERE :P

Wow, great shots Len. I'm interested in how you stopped the motion- or did the jellies do that themselves? :) No flash you say.... very fast lens? very high ISO? tripod? All three I would imagine... let me know. Great work! T

  4. I don't know ANYTHING about Cameras

I would very much advise against spending 100 on a film camera vs. 300 on a digital. You'll spend the other 200 in film and processing just trying to figure out how to get good pics of your tank.
  5. a question about flash

I'm with sharkyy, I find it's always better to have the room lights out. However, I have had good luck shooting fish in a tripod (even my cheapo one) just by keeping all the joints loosened up. Helps eliminate some of the movement back and forth, which is a major cause of focus issues...
  6. a question about flash

ozadars, that means the camera can change it- whether it allows you the same liberty, not sure, but see if you have a "shutter priority" mode. Now, back to the crux of your problem- you're going to find that just "raising the shutterspeed" isn't going to fix your problem. The REAL problem is...
  7. Is the SLR dead?

Here's your Velvia filter: http://www.fredmiranda.com/shopping/DV His actions are great, would love to try this one but "saturation" seems to be a dirty word in the reefers' community so I stay away from it. T
  8. Stupid question for SLR ppl

Sharkky, check out this link for sensor cleaning info and how to tell if there's dust on your sensor. http://www.photo.net/equipment/digital/sensorcleaning/ Pay CLOSE attention to the part where it asks if you really want to know what's on your sensor. Because once you see it, you'll clean it...
  9. Stupid question for SLR ppl

Take a look in the manual, I'm pretty sure the cleaning mode just flips the mirror up for you to do the really nerve-racking part yourself. Unless it's some new feature my 10D doesn't have, in which case I am furiously jealous. :)
  10. The Elegance Thread

I've got a couple macros... Don't ask how long it lived for. :(

  12. September Photo Contest Winner!!!

Thanks, it's truly an honor to be in such good company as the previous winners. Wampatom, absolutely LOVED the clown in the big colt. That is an excellent photo, as you stated about mine, the mood of yours elevates it well beyond simply recording a species or two. I'd put that one on my wall...
  13. Yellow Clown Goby

Been a while since I've shared some new ones on here. This is what a photo nut/reef addict does on a friday night... :) Enjoy. All were taken with Canon 10D, 100mm macro with extension tubes and for these I was experimenting with my 420ex flash unit off the camera, best shots...
  14. Thinking of a new camera.

If you have good lenses for the Nikon, it makes all the sense in the world to get the D100. If they're mediocre lenses, I might lean toward the Canon. Travis
