The old one was Instant Ocean brand, The new one is a Quick Dip strip type. I assume that it's reading OK because if the ammonia was as high as the I.O. kit indicated the fish would have been belly up.
As it turns out, my test kit must be faulty !?! I bought a different one and the ammonia is at a safe level. what's confusing is that the old test read normal in my main tank,and high in the quar. tank :? Test kits are a pain in the @$$!!!

I have just purchased a 24 gal Aqua pod campact flourecent system. my options for adding an exernal skimmer seem very limited because of the self containd design. does anyone have any suggestions for a skimmer for this system :?:
