I drained the tap water out of my 90 gl., Friday.
AFTER RE-FILLING! I noticed that "we" , me and my help!, Shifted the tank while adding 120lbs of sand!!!!!!!!
Sooooo, after much un-necessary work Sunday I refilled the tank using one 402 powerhead :x which was SOOOOO S L O W ! ! ...
Well,
The tap water here is crazy hard 18DKH. I am getting mixed reviews on the water change. I hear that my tap water could cause algea issues a year from now. If this holds true wouldn't I be pulluting the astrnomically priced sand?
Also i bought an eheim 2227 (wet/dry). it is basically a...
Hello All,
I recently set up a 90gl added water and salt using TAP water.
I'm impatient at best and did not utilize the industrial RO/DI available to me at work.
What are your opinions on draining refilling and staring over.
My sand came in today and I dont want to add it if your opinions...
Once again my impatience got the best of me. I have access to an industrial RO unit which can make hundreds if not thousands of gallons per day.
Will my up-coming water changes not "cleanse" the water and eventually remove all of the tap water? I have added salt and hate to 86 all of the water...
CVP thanks so much for the prompt replies, snowman I appreciate your input also.
My tank has been running 11 days today, water only! (wanted to see if the eheim could handle the bio-load of city water :D )
I have decided to go with a DSB 2-3 inches and live rock which I planned on adding in 3...
I will be acquiring a skimmer soon. I rushed into the filter deal; had I to to it over again I would get get a sump. It is an eheim 2227 wet dry which uses their Eufenstraben (crazy mis-pelled) no bio balls.
I appreciate your replies:
I have not ordered rock as of yet I was trying to decide about the LSB. Now that i know I want to go that route I thought that I should add sand, allow it to settle (all pumps/filters off I assume) and then add 100 lbs of rock over the next month (2 paychecks) :oops...
I'm shooting for 2-3 inches of sand i've heard of as much as 4-5 inches and others that say 1 to 1 and 3/4 is fine????
Any creative ideas on adding to full tank?
My friend that sold me the tank is fond of the Berlin glass bottom method.
I decided after much consideration that I prefer the look/filtration benifits of sand, so i thought i would add approx 130lbs 80lbs aragamax and 30 or so oooolite dry.
