  1. Identify Anemone Please

Thanks for your replies. It was actually white when I first got it. But now it seems to be a more light brown/pinkish colour.
  2. Identify Anemone Please

Hi all, Can someone please identify my anemone? The lady at the LFS said she "thought" it was a magnifica. But I didn't know better at the time. Or maybe its just your average BTA. Also I think it was bleached. (compulsive buying before research) Anyways, I've had it for 18 months and its...
  3. question on cycling

Do you have a sump? or is it just a piggybak skimmer? What I did when I first started was put some filtering foam in my sump just to clear up the water to get rid of the floaties.
  4. Amonia in tap water

AquaFX, my N levels in my main tank are all zero all the times I've tested it. Its only been up for two months tho. As for the "mix" tank, I've only tested for ammonia and nitrite, which are zero before I add the water to the main tank. I'll test the nitrate next time and let you know...
  5. Amonia in tap water

Don't know if this helps, I'm a newbie and all, but the way I get rid of ammonia in tap water is to set up another small tank, mix the salt and water, and run a small (established) powerfilter, and leave it for a week or so. Then add it to the main tank. This seems to work. If you guys see...
  6. Pairing Clowns

Yes, I was refering to the A. Ocellaris Chris. Thanks for your feedback guys, appreciate it.
  7. Pairing Clowns

Hi Guys, just a question about the false Clownfish. I want to get a pair of clowns for my reef tank, and hopefully get them to pair up and spawn in the future. Its hard to find a nice pair, so my question is, Is it possible to get one clown at a time? Will they eventually pair up or is that...
  8. To QT or not to QT, that is the question.

I asked this a bit earlier in the thread, but didn't get a reply. Do you need to QT coral and other inverts like slugs, nudibranches and snails? If so do you have to provide them with the right lighting. Thanks guys.
  9. 2 Week Tank Cycle???

Hahaha...yeah I understand LN, patience is good, but the tank looks so empty = ( I was thinkin more in the lines of two clowns and a few snails? Would this be cool? Then I'll wait as long as it takes = )
  10. 2 Week Tank Cycle???

Thanks for your replies guys, I just tested for nitrite and nitrates yesterday and they are still 0. Should be cool to add a few fish in now rite? Its approaching 3 weeks since I set it up, and I pretty much cured my live rock in the tank while I cycled it.
  11. 2 Week Tank Cycle???

Hey guys, just a question, is it possible for a tank to cycle in 2 weeks? I set up my 42g tank about two weeks ago. I've got about 45lb of live rock, a skimmer, and a thin layer of CC. I tested for ammonia twice in the first week and it was rising rapidly. A week later I tested for nitrites...
  12. To QT or not to QT, that is the question.

Thanks Bryan, just another question, Do you need to QT new coral as well? If so, do you need to provide them with proper lighting?
  13. To QT or not to QT, that is the question.

Just a question about QTs. Do you just set it up, add a powerfilter and thats it? Don't u need to cycle the QT or anything? Since bacteria will grow and cause high nitrites? I'm quite new at this.
  14. Mechanical Filtration?

Hahahaha...good idea Tenshi, but Aus beaches are not that clean hahaha. I once used to get water from the beaches, full of disease which killed my fish, so I'm steerin away from natural resources =) Also I read somewhere that beach sand is not good for reef aquariums? plus its illegal to take = )
  15. Mechanical Filtration?

Ok, thanks Tenshi. Yeah I only plan on keepin two clowns, and coral, and any reef janitors that I need. Hopefully the clowns will breed = ) I only just set up my tank 2 weeks ago, so I don't think I'll be changing to a DSB anytime soon. I currently have a sponge in my sump (for mech filt) but...
