Like I Said Before (crash pics)

I had my dream job!
I had a great career loved being part of the SCUBA team
here's some pics of the guys from yesterdays' plane crash

there work really begins now
they will be using a side scan sonor device to locate the missing engine
they most likely secure the plane at battery park
and will definitely be involved in the investigation with the FAA and NTSB

Is it NYPD Scuba? I'm confused on who is responsible for the clean up...

Another STUPID question. Did any of the pets in the storage area live?
Yes NYPD SCUBA

if they were down below I highly doubt that they survived
we would not open the lower compartments while the plane is still in the water

that plane does not carry passengers or crew down below
Flight 800 was a dual cabin plane

how warm does that suit u frogmens wear? that water must be freezing.

we dive dry it's a vulcanized rubber suit that seals at the neck and wrists.
there is a latex hood attached to the suit to keep your head dry.
under the suit we wear a polypropylene underwear and a polyester filled jumpsuit.

For the most part it's like being outside in winter properly dressed
Your hands get cold because they are in a wetsuit glove

it's actually warmer in the water

Thanks for all the pics and insight into how you guys work. Your bravery is amazing and you are not given enough credit for it.
Thanks we were never know for seeking media attention
not many people knew what we actually did
rescue work was just one part of what we did
evidence recovery, ships husbandry for the fleet of launches, maintenance of the launch, we train PCTs in Ice rescue that have bodies of water within their confines
and pretty much anything that has to do with underwater operations surveys and such

I'm missing work right now
that shouldnt last too long hope to get some skiing in on monday LOL

Wow! Those suits are crazy.

What position in the NYPD would lead you to SCUBA? I assume there is some position that is a prerequisite?

Police officer off prohbation
tough test to qualify
2 years diving expiernce and a probation time on the team
it's a very elite unit only 30 guys on team
Does anyone know if any animals where under the plane?
havent heard any reports
