That is awesome. I wonder if we'll be able to visit the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. On a History Channel show about waste disposal, they flew over the garbage patch. They said it's twice the size of Texas.

I thought one of the added features of being able to watch the progressive 'history' of earlier Google Earth pics was interesting. Almost afraid to look at the ones where hurricanes have come through and communities are now gone

There are many features that you can also add to your Google Earth that have been developed by lay people (wonderful that GE supports these folks that come up with great ideas). One of them shows the reefs of the world. I have the link somewhere and will take a look for it when I get home later on. Not sure if it is different than what GE just added, but worth a look see.

That whole 'street view' thing is still blowing my mind..so much detail, odd seeing my house on the web...

well that's sobering. not to go OT but with plastic dissolving down to the molecular level and being eaten by fish, we are going to be reaping what we have sown soon.
If GE can track the GPGP then maybe it will help make more people aware of it. I had no idea

Jonathan, that's what I was thinking too. When Dave and I were watching that show on the History Channel, we were both surprised. Neither of us had heard of it either.

It MUST show up on Google Earth though - it's too big not to.
