bicycle travel case?

Does anyone know where I can get one in the city like rentals or have one I could borrow? I'd be willing to leave a deposit or whatever or pay to rent it. I'm going away on thursday to ride with my brothers and am wary of putting my bike in the bus luggage area without packing it, but at the same time I don' t have the funds to buy a $400 carrying case that I'll use once or twice a year maybe.

Most bike shops will give you a cardboard box for free, you just need to take off the pedals, front wheel, and the handle bar.

Try one of the better bike shops, I seemed to remember that they rent them. Also, make a post on the the NYCC message board, http://www.nycc.org/.
