Nice Ronen,

You will get even better with time. You just got the lens, wait until you master it. It might become your favorite style of photography. Go shoot some bugs too, or use it for portraits, it's pretty versatile. Looking forward to seeing more.

Try to keep your shutter up, use a tripod, and they will be tack sharp. Stay at 90 degrees to the glass. Keep shooting away!

ah, i see great potential !

I hardly ever use a tripod with the digital camera.
I just raise the ISO speed till the shutter speed is fast enough
to hand hold. Tripods and things that move fast ie. fish do not mix well.

very nice ronen, what is the lens you got, what cannon do you have? cheaper than buying a nice slr.

about time, your vendor pics were kind of crappy:wink1:

mess around with the white balance, may produce some better color

For corals and things that are stationary the tripod helps bigtime. You might also want to cut down on your water flow to keep the corals steady.

J is right that you can raise the ISO to get a faster shutter. But you have to be careful that you don't go up so high that you start to introduce noise. A picture with too much noise is not very pleasing. The max i will ever go is 800, preferably less. You have to determine the point at which the noise becomes apparent based on your camera. In a tank with good lighting, you can get away with a low ISO. If you are shooting flash, you can also get away with a low ISO.

There's no better teacher than the person behind the camera. The more you shoot the better you get and the more familiar you become with your equipment!

ronen, if you can, move your subjects as close to the glass as you can,
that will make best use of the macro lens you have.
for the coral you sell you can get fancy and make a little shooting tank for them. use a two gallon tank with a MH over it, and a fan lol, then you can place one or two corals in there at a time and get them looking their best close up. without any flow you can also shoot straight down on them, those shots could look cool also, just prop the coral up closer to the top of the water.

Pedro, true about the noise in the high ISO's, but that depends on the camera also.

I find I can go to around 1200 without getting any noise I would consider to be bad looking.

Tripods are good for some things, I still use them in my still life and close up shots. If you really want to get the best photos of softies and lps corals then all the flow should be turned off (like you mentioned) the tank and let the corals expand.
just make sure you do not shoot for too long like this! :dead1:

Noise is the amount of grain present in a picture. The higher the iso, the greater it is.
