hey Reefers,

I am putting together an educational exhibit which will include a real aquarium but for the grand opening of this building, I was hoping to have an aquarium poster in its place. I am looking to blow this image up to close to life size so I think I would need a 5MB jpeg or larger. If anyone has one they can share please email to [email protected] . Thanks and dont hesitate to ask any questions.

Well I'd imagine you'd have to take an actual camera photo rather than digital photo, and then you'd need to blow up manually, I think if you'd do any sort of digital photo you'd be limited by camera, current big wigs are 6mp aren't they?? and even if you scanned a picture you'd be restricted by scanner size.

If you pull it off I'd be interested in how you do it.

Dude, sfsuphysics, I have an 8Mp Sony digicam (f828); it totally can be done. For life sized, youll need a really high resolution, and an equally high resolution/dpi printer that can do banners of considerable WIDTH (not just length, silly; thats easy ).
I think something in the range of 8-14Megapixels, shot in RAW mode, uncompressed, un-edited, and printed on a high-quality photo printer of considerable size would make for the most awesome poster anyone's ever seen.

Id offer my tank, but its deffinetely poster material... :( Getting the pic to you, coralite, though, is going to be the hairy part...; BIG, fatty file that'll take up lots of bandwidth... Hope ya have broadband, 512+ Megabytes of RAM, and a dedicated email client/program (not webmail)!

Good luck, hope it works out for ya!

Coralite , This is Kalkbreath at Cappuccino Bay Aquarium in Atlanta. I will be Printing large format posters soon for my store. I will be buying a large format printer Epson . How large an image did you imagine? and when did you need it. Most Kinkos can print 48 inch wide posters ,but the trick is handing them edited imge data that they can print. Talk to one of the bigger stores in your area .........they can pont you in the right direction . Check back with me in a month or so and I might be up and running and can help you ........after Christmas.
