Hey guys,

I am looking to get a new camera. I have a Canon Elph S300 (4-5 years old). The camera has been good except for the macro adn night shooting.

I would love to get a Nikon D70 but its just too big right now. When we are traveling we already have a Panasonic G-120 camcorder so canrrying 2 camera cases is too much.

I am looking at the Nikon 7900. 7.1Megapixels.

Any good? Is there a better "Point and Shoot" camera out there?

We will be using the camera for taking pictures of our 9 month old and vacation pics for the most part. I would also like to take some macro shots of the reeftank and etc.

Hey Rob,

I know you asked this in #reefs :P As it happened, I got a chance to play with a 7600 this weekend. It was a fine camera and did a good job with macros, which is no surprise for Nikon cameras. I didn't use the 7600 with any length of time, but from what I gathered, it is a very capable camera and represents a nice value. The 7900 looks to be about the same camera.

I'm mostly a slr shooter, so I'd nudge you in that direction ;) I know it's a lot more expensive and more clunky though.
