harry how big is your pond? and how deep?

Hi Ricky
the pond is about 2000 gals 4 ft at its deepest just under the waterfall.
It has a 15 ft stream then drops into a skimmer box to the return. I'm using a skippy style filter system using a 100g cow feeding bucket thing (damn i cant remember the name of that thing) lol

Harry, what can I say that you don't already know.lol You know I love your pond, and wish hubby had not insisted on the deck & pool. My pond is just a tiny hole in the ground in the front court yard.:(

Looks awesome.

What do you have to do for the wintertime? Does the water need to be heated?

Is any of the plant perennial?

I feed the fish i high protein diet during the summer. In sept i feed a high carbohydrate diet until the end of sept or when the water temps drop below 50 degrees. I also reduce the amt of feeding starting mid sept daily to every other day to every two days and so on. Usually the fish stop eating themselves.

I keep a hole open on the top of the ice with a temp activated floating heater. It just keeps a hole does not warm the water. This allows for the transfer of gases.

In October I shut everything down, remove all the pumps and powerheads. Cut all the leaves n stems of all the lillies, and other waterplants, then sink them to the bottom of the pond.

I do have some seasonal plants such as the Hyacinths and parrots feather.
