How the @#$! do you open a can of Oatey cement?

I nearly sprained my forearms trying to turn that lid. Tried running it under hot water and nothing.

Did a search and found one person who suggests using channel locks. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Oh yes, that PVC cement lid is ridiculous. I never even try to open it with my hand, pliers are your friend here.

Rubber band tool (i use for oil filter also, on my cars, from Sears) i see some people worm up the cap , w/ cigarette lighter, but i never suggest (need to be on open space) .

I didn't have pliers on hand. Used sandpaper instead, and it worked with virtually no effort!

Make sure to wear gloves that have a grip to them. Tap on the lid a couple of times with plyers or end of a screwdriver, something like that, it should open. Open carefully as sometimes it will slosh out.
