Hi, I just got a flame scallop yesterday. After placing it, it moved a little and seems like it's fine as it's not moving and nothing is bothering it. I can see it's flaps flash like neon lights. One of the members told me thats a good sign that it's happy. Well it's fully open and it has it's tenticles out but something that worries me is that.. it's white long tongue is peeling it's mantle from it's shell (bottom). The top piece is fine.. it's using it's long tongue to scoop it self out of it's shell.. Should I be moving it? or do something? I have no idea what it is doing and why it's doing that..

Does anyone have any idea? If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I've taken a small video with my camera phone to better explain it, but you can hardly see it doing it..The video was created in MP4 which had to be zipped and renamed with an extention of pdf just so i can attach it here..

So you have to rename the pdf to .zip and than extract it to view the MP4. Sorry I know it's alot of work but I would really apprecite at it if you can help. Thanks.

Scallops do not belong in our tanks.. they are very hard to care for and keep alive... while they might be one or 2 or even 3 lucky people they will only live for a short time. hence that is why they should stay out of our tanks and not bought so maybe they will stop collecting them... good luck..

you will need to really really feed that guy- I would take it out each night and put it in a small container w/ lots of phyto- maybe it will actually survive for while!
