I upgraded from a 65 to a 120. I added all the wats from my old tank and new ro/di and put back all the corals and fish in the same day. I didn't loose anything.

If you can, give the tank a day to settle. If you can't, go for it. Just make sure you keep your rock in water all the time so you don't have a mini cycle bigger than you should have. You'll be fine. We transfered Mikes(Slamajamas) 90 to a 125 all in one day, livestock and all.

the majority of bacteria you need is in the rocks.

using the old water is good so the coral does not go into shock.

make up the new water well ahead of time if you can.

the other factor is you may have to get more rock to provide more space for the good bacteria. if you get uncured rock it's better to cure it in a seperate container, that will let you avoid any cycles in the tank.
