after quite some time. i am noticing that the penguin powerhead that i am using is too strong, seems like a tornado is going to happen.
what powerheads are good for a 10 gallon. and are there any out there where you can control the flow.

aquaclear

i have been running #50 and #30(2) in my 25g for years.
last bought a #20 to mix 10g water change pale....perfect flow
they are all have adjustable flow, easy to maintain and bullet proof
they come with dual mounting: rim hanger or suction cups for mid\bottom

I have a 10 gallon with a penguin mini filter and thats it. It is fine for my fish and for my corals. I have mushrooms, candy cane, star polyps and a couple zoos and they are all growing. And I have a 10 pound rock that is probably blocking the flow that is there. In any case I do not feel that I need a powerhead. If you have LPS then it may be a different story.

i have 2 little rio pumps in my 10 gallon(1 60gph and 1 90gph.....cost about 20$ each from a LFS)......plus some flow from a modded aquaclear 110 and a pengiun mini........evrything is doing really well.......good flow is important IMO.....it helps detritus from settling
quick pic....i have taken out the hydor rotating thing....it sucks and takes up too much room in a 10gallon

i agree with the hydro rotating thing.....
it truly sucks....half the pressure of the powerhead is use turn it
my AC # 50 (274gph) was pumping less then 150gph(tested) with it
on.

as for the starert of the thread......buy the # 20

funny thing, I have an Aquapod, and I upgraded the pump to a rio800, and I do have the Hydro rotator. Since I put it on, the growth that I have seen in my tank is amazing, yes some of the pressure is lost by moving it, but I have every kind of type of coral in my tank, and they all are thriving.
Xenias, Anthellias, Zooas, Sinularia, Ricordia, Polyps, Porcillopora, Digitata, a Red Electric scallop, an oyster... in other words a huge bunch of stuff. And I like the rotating Hydro, it really moves my water in a very natural way, almost like an ocean motion.

i believe the hydor rotator need a fairly strong pump to work well......since about half of the water pressure is used to turn it.......u would still need the other half to push out a good amount of flow......

for a 10 gallon....i would look into small powerheads that produce good flow......anything bigger would be a eye sore...
