i just got a manderin dragonet and two of my other fish are picking with him, they are smacking him with their tails could this lead to problems later on, or should i just not worry about it?
My experience with dragonets is that they are impervious to being picked on. Usually, the aggressor get's bored with them because they do absolutely nothing to protect themselves or even acknowledge that they are being attacked. When I recently added an Atlantic Blue Tang into my tank and my manderins tail and fins were shredded within a few days time. The tail and fins healed and the tang leaves the manderin alone now.
Did I read correctly in your sig that you have 5 lbs of LR in a 55g tank, and a mandarin dragonet? I hope that's a typo and you meant 75 lbs of LR...
If you're going to add 70 lbs of LR from the LFS, you probably want to return the dragonet (and the other fish) while the tank runs through its nitrogen cycle...
Honestly I think you should take back the dragonet back and seriously scould the guy at the fish store for selling him to you.
I see nothing but problems for you in the future if you keep it up like this. YOur bioload is already maxed out for an aged tank thats why you are getting couldy water to much ammonia.
Like I said change water frequently
Dont add anything new until your water has cleared up.
I also notice that you mention a Fluval 304, which is a mid-size canister filter, and no protein skimmer? Again, I hope that your signature is woefully out of date?
