Besides doing water changes, alot of them. What chemical phosphate remover is GOOD and works, and is safe for a reef tank? Also is this something that can be placed in a mesh bag and placed inside the sump area?

Buy the reactor. Best $35 you'll ever spend. Plenty of vendors around here can get it for you. I'd go with Phosar HC. IMO, slightly better and slightly longer lasting than the others and works out to be the same price when you consider the amounts used. Don't over do it. You'll strip your tank and stress out and bleach your coral.

Get the reactor, it just makes it so much easier. I second the Phosar, although I havn't yet tried the Phosar HC.

If you must go without a reactor (come on its $35, not alot in this hobby), allegedly the size of the granuals of Phosar allows it to work better than the others in a mesh bag, because they are bigger. (Never tried this, so it is all hearsay) I don't know if this is true, or not for the Phosar HC.
